What is the goal of the game?
-
To find the Awesmoe Treasure.
-
To do this, you have to pass the three trials.
-
Also, you will need to find your way around BHT.
-
You should start the game by quitting it.
How do I get Cuppit to shut up?
-
Talk to him. A lot.
-
Pay close attention to the dialog options.
-
You can probably get him to talk to someone else.
-
Tell him to shut up, then apologize, then tell him to talk to the spoon.
How do I pass the first trial?
-
That's easy, just talk to the man and give him the password.
-
Why would it not work if you click the talk cursor on the man...
-
Apparently the man is not clickable.
-
You can turn this on in the "characters" panel of the BHT editor.
Okay, so what is the answer?
-
Guessing might work, but would be pretty pointless.
-
The answer is a string of texts.
-
Where would BHT store its strings?
-
Look in the global messages panel. Scroll down a bit.
How do I cross the chams?
-
You cannot jump, so you need to cover it up.
-
Your character isn't carrying anything convenient for the task.
-
However, you can create objects in the editor.
-
Create an object with the image of the wooden board, and place it over the chasm.
-
Be careful when walking over it, it's kind of narrow.
Why doesn't that editor button work?
-
It is broken, you'll need to pay for an upgrade to BHT.
-
Failing that, you can stick it back on. But how would you keep it in place?
-
There's some glue in the editor.
-
You might be able to move the glue if you had it under your cursor...
-
Can you change the cursor's shape?
-
Go to the 'cursors' panel to change the cursor graphic. Click the glue on the button.
Okay, so how do I cross the second chasm?
-
The same trick might work again?
-
There is only one board, but of course you can move it.
-
That, of course, would leave you stuck before the first chasm. Unless...
-
Is there some way to move the board while the 'hero' stands between the chasms?
-
Perhaps by saving your game?
-
If that didn't work, try deselecting "no saving/restoring in this room" from room properties.
I've made it to the door! How do I open it?
-
It's locked.
-
You've probably seen a key around somewhere?
-
One of the inventory items is a key. But there doesn't seem to be a way to pick it up.
-
No, creating an object for it is not going to work.
-
Remember this cheat mode option that gets all inventory items for you?
-
From the game, press control-S to get all items, including the key.
-
This only works if you enable "debug mode" in the "general settings" panel.
How do I carry the fire without dying?
-
You don't, really. Fire is dangerous.
-
Oh, I get it. When you take everything, that includes the fire. Tricky, yes?
-
So how would you get rid of a fire?
-
Is there some water around?
-
Your hero can't carry fire, so you'll have to fix this from the BHT editor.
-
In the third room, create an object with the image of the fire, and put it on the water.
Why does the third room crash the game?
-
Because there's a script error, duh. You'll have to fix this before continuing.
-
Unfortunately, the BHT script editor doesn't work...
-
Can you get someone else to fix it for you?
-
How about Cuppit?
-
Of course, he initially won't, so you'll have to do something for him.
What's the deal with that Cuppit?
-
Apart from being a nuisance, he might help you if you give him something.
-
What would a cup like...
-
How about coffee!
-
There's coffee in the fourth room of the game. But not accessible from the editor.
-
How would you get there if you can't pass the third test yet?
-
Didn't BHT have a debug option to teleport?
-
It's control-X, and once again this only works if you enable "debug mode".
-
You can give the coffee to Cuppit by changing your cursor on the "cursors" panel.
The third chamber still doesn't work!
-
Have you taken a closer look at the room in the editor?
-
Some options default to the wrong setting.
-
In particular, disable "hide player character".
-
Also, it might help to turn off "no saving/restoring in this room".
What is the answer to the First Question?
-
Come on, that one should be trivial.
-
What's the first adventure game?
-
Okay, that would be advent, or colocave, or zork. Try a graphic adventure.
-
Yes, the Sierra classic. If that's not actually the first, that would be Cuppit's fault.
-
King's Quest I.
-
And it has a maximum score of 158 points, in each version.
What is the answer to the Second Question?
-
Consider who is asking it.
-
Consider the arrogance of the person who wrote Awesmoe Quest...
-
So the ideal adventure game would be Awesmoe Quest itself.
-
Check the size of META.EXE; that would be your answer.
-
In kilobytes, not regular bytes. Divide by 1024.
-
If that really didn't work, something has modified META.EXE. Get a good virus scanner.
What is the answer to the Third Question?
-
It is, rather obviously, a trick question.
-
That means that any number you enter will be wrong.
-
It is also a famous inside joke.
-
Try googling the phrase.
-
Failing that, google Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
How do I defeat the Dragon?
-
Have you checked the bottom of the pool yet?
-
Or have you looked behind the tree in the first room?
-
Or maybe you're falling for an age-old trick?
-
Such as the fact that there is no dragon in the game? You cheater.
